Why are you here at Control Your Dog?

Long story short, I was inspired to create this website one day. Walking through the park and I just heard someone in the distance holler at someone else that was letting their dog run loose and it violated someone’s picnic. “CONTROL YOUR DOG!” is what I heard.

A quick look at the domain name, showed it was available, no one was using it. That’s odd. It is a good name, it can be turned into a brand. It has tons of people with dog related problems. People hungry for solutions around this specific challenge. There tons of products already in existence that people buy at brick and mortar stores and online every day. I can create links making it easy for those people searching for help to get their hands on what I hope to be quality products.

There are lost of garbage products out there too. Stuff people create for the purpose of making money on their website and have nothing to do with actually helping the dog owners. Those can be easily avoided though.

So it was a no brainer to snatch up the domain, get a hosting account, and start building what I hope to be a quality website to help people with real canine problems find their real solutions. And in the process, I would get paid a commission form the various vendors as a bonus to me.

Just so you know, this is the basic pattern that most “Make Money Online” webmasters use when trying to sell to desperate people. Find a need, find a solution to that need, create a product that promises to fix the problem and manipulate the reader into buying the product. Those websites exist for the owner to make money and they don’t care if the products work or not.

This formula works in many niches outside of the pet industry. But that’s not what I want to do here.

I want to make a website about dogs that are out of control. I have an image of a young woman taking a 50 lb dog out the front door on a leash and as she is trying to lock the door, a rabbit runs across the yard. Her monster size dog takes off and yanks her off her feet, everything else in her hands flying. Then the innocent dog drags her across the yard in chase. The front door stands wide open and the woman is probably gonna be sore, if not really injured.

I want to make a website that helps that woman find some kind of course to train her dog to not try kill her every time she takes it outside. A website that addresses many kinds of behavior problems that dog owners experience. Not to be biased against cats, horses, hamsters, goats, sugar gliders, or chickens, but I just want to focus on dogs. They have the longest history after all of being man’s best friend.

I want to make a website that links to online suppliers like Chewy.com and the various pet stores so people can quickly find dog food and supplies they use every single day and make it easy for those people to get those products delivered right to their door so they don’t even have to leave their house, burn gas in the car, spend time walking up and down isles.

And I have been tinkering in “online” business since 2010 so I recognized that if I do a quality website focused on helping people instead of making money, it will build a nice “side gig” income as a byproduct.

The point of today’s post has been to introduce you to my hopes for this website, and some other ideas that I had while creating this foundation that the Control Your Dog brand is built on.

In closing I wish to share two things. First, I am making a static page(that’s just a page on my website that will always be available) about how people wanting to try some kind of online business encounter a bunch of vultures. Vultures ready to twist the eagerness and desperation into a way to fleece money out of those desperate people. And I want to show that a small percent of people actually have real integrity and refuse to do that kind of dirty business.

Later gator.
